In the service, Netflix is actually not much different from those of its competitors. Only there is one feature that has been owned by HOOQ and iFlix, but not owned by Netflix, the video download feature. With these features, users can download a video and watch it at a later time when they do not have an internet connection.
However, the shortage is unlikely to be a problem anymore. COO a video technology company named Penthera, Daniel Taitz, told the website LightReading if Netflix will soon launch a video download feature in the near future.
"My guess, they will launch the feature at the end of this year," said Daniel.
This was echoed by an analyst from Frost & Sullivan, Dan Rayburn, who explained that this is something that sooner or later it is going to be presented by Netflix. "We have heard this for months and months," said Dan.
Earlier, in December 2014, Reed Hastings (Netflix CEO) has since stated that he was not going to make the video download feature. But Reed slightly softened in April 2016 yesterday, and mentions that he is now open to the option to present the feature.
If Netflix really bring this video download service, they could compete more closely with HOOQ and iFlix in the homeland. Interesting to wait if Netflix will make these features by limiting the number of movies that can be downloaded as HOOQ, or limit the time available for movie downloads like that do iFlix.
On 30 November 2016 yesterday, Netflix finally launched a video download feature in Android and iOS them. The Netflix users around the world can now download movies and TV series, and then watch them later without requiring an internet connection.
To access this feature, you just need to open the detail page of a movie and TV series, and then press the Download button.
According to Netflix, many films and TV series are now available for download, and the rest will follow later. To find out which content that already you can download, you can open a new category named "Available for Download".
