Commodities exciting new

Currently, Bank Indonesia (BI) is the middle restrict the issuance of e-money license. So far, there are only 21 companies in Indonesia who managed to have the license, the majority of them are banks and telecommunications companies.

This also makes the owners of e-money license, in addition to banks and telecommunications companies, became an attractive commodity. Some large companies that want to enter the e-money market in the country, obviously will consider the possibility of acquiring them.

This already happens when an e-money services from Thailand called True Money wants to present their services in the country. They started by acquiring a license owner company e-money, ie Witami Teller.

There are 20 companies have been "queuing" e-money license

M Ajisatria Suleiman (Aji), Public Policy Director of the Association of Indonesian Fintech, stated that there are currently 20 companies that submitted applications for licensed e-money to the central bank. Until now, they are still waiting for a response from the central bank in Indonesia.

"BI is currently encouraging interoperability between e-money products. When this issue has been resolved, the new BI will consider re-opening the opportunity for a new license. So, now they want to focus on having a strong infrastructure first, before allowing more players come in, "said Aji.

According to Aji, BI is also preparing a draft regulation on e-wallet at the same time.

"E-Wallet can only store data, while e-money could save money. So perhaps all sides can get a license e-wallet as long as they meet the requirements. But to get an e-money license, the central bank will implement a policy to regulate the publication, "said Aji.

Throughout the year, there is a new payment service that secured the e-money license, which Espay. They have teamed up with some e-commerce players, such as MatahariMall.
